Hello Stranger

It's been so long since I last posted. I guess I just got a bit busy and forgot about this blogging thing. I was on Yelp earlier and saw that my profile had a link to my blog and I thought, I should remove that since I don't blog anymore...since there was no edit button I clicked on the link to take me to my blog and low and behold I see that I have one follower!  And it's not even my husband - a real life person!!! A BIG THANK YOU to Eric!!! Don't know why you're interested in my blog, don't care, just happy to have you!

Anyway, since my last blog, well, a lot has happened. Long story short, we now have 3 dogs and 2 guinea pigs - and it's all due to Rootin, our loveable, socially challenged corgi. My husband was unhappy with his career and wanted to do something different, figured out that his love for Rootin extended beyond just Rootin, but to all dogs and all animals. He graduated with his AA last year in Veterinary Technology and is now a registered veterinary technician (RVT)!

So with a resident expert in the house, it was only a matter of time before we we became pet hoarders :)

Breakdown of the doggies (although we have the piggies, I will only focus on dogs in this blog)
Rootin is our first dog so he will always hold a special place in our hearts. He's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi that we adopted in 2009, one month before his 5th birthday from Oroville, CA (just south of Chico). He was abused in his former life so he comes with many issues as one can imagine, however he's working on them and has been making many baby steps. Rooten will be 9 in September.

Mochiko is a Miniature Pinscher that we adopted from Shake Wiggle N' Roll in 2011. She was 6 when we got her from an old woman who purchased her to be a lap dog and gave her up when all 13 pounds of her became too much for the woman to handle. She was well loved in her first life, but never properly socialized. Since she's used to being a lap dog, she always needs to be sitting with, or more than likely on, someone. Mochiko turned 8 in February.

Grammie is an Affenpinscher found by BAD RAP in 2011. BAD RAP is a Pit Bull rescue organization in Oakland, CA that was heavily involved in rehabilitating the Michal Vic dogs. When Grammie was found she was starving, emaciated, had maggots in her right ear, and was blind in both eyes (cataracts). She was already a senior dog, age unknown, but at least 10. The call went out to foster her for the last 2-3 weeks of her life as they really didn't think she would live beyond that - here we are almost 2 whole years later and Grammie is doing great and part of our wonderful family of misfits! Yes, she is our first foster failure (as I'm sure there will be many others in our future). Grammie is at least 12 years young.

Well, that's it for now. Thanks for reading - till next time!
